Exam Review
Yesterday in class we got our tests back but we didn't have time to go over them. I got a 93% on my test which I think is very good because I thought I woould do worse than that. There were only two questions that I got wrong but they were very specific and I didn't remember the answer. I know what I did wrong now and I will study these questions. We also turned in our essays and I think I did well on that. After all of this we reviewed for our exams with the study guide on the blog. I think I feel pretty well prepared for it but I definetly need to study over the weekend and on Tuesday night.

Day 2: Essay
Today I was able to finish my essay in class. I got a little bit stuck on the 4th paragraph and didn't know what to include. I was able to move past it and finish my essay. Once I got home, my dad and I proofread it and made sure it was exaclt how I wanted it. After that we printed it out. I hope I get a good gread on it because I tried my hardest on it and it is worth 25% of the exam grade. Other than that, I am very stressed out about exams and I hope I do well on them. I am going to have to spend a lot of time studying each night so that I don't fail.

Writing Essay
Today in class, Mr. Schick was not here. So I went to his room and waited outside for a couple minutes until I realized that class was in Mrs. Gauthier's room. Once I got there, I sat on the couch and started writing my essay. I got my earbuds out of my locker as well, because listening to music helps me focus. A lot of people say that, but for me it actually helps. I got 2 and a half paragraphs done today. I did most of the hard parts so tomorrow I just have to finish it and make sure it is good.

Test Day
Today in class we took a test about all of the immigration stuff we have been learning about. It was only 28 questions and I found it to be pretty easy. The first ten questions were just defintions and I studied those last night so I was good with those. The multiple choice ones were also pretty easy. I think that I got an A. Now since I finished the test and am doing my blog, i am going to start my essay afterwards. I am feeling pretty stressed for exams because I have never taken an exam before and I also heard that they are hard. Hopefully I do well because I want my semester grades to go up not down.

Immigration notes
Today we went over a powerpoint with more immigration notes. I learned that 75% of immigrants are admitted to reunify families. I think this number is very high because I didn't know that that many immigrants had family already living here. I think that it's great the United States is reuniting families, but I wonder if there is more going on then that. The Unites States also lets in talented workers, which is 25% of the quota. This is smart because if you aren't bringing something to the table then you aren't allowed in. I think this is a great system because the United States doesn't just need random people there to not contribute.

Migrant packet
Today in class, we worked by ourselves and read a packet that we took notes from. I learned that the U.N. sets quotas each year. In 1924, 2 percent of the countries native number could immigrate each year. In 1965, quotas from individual countries were replaced with hemisphere quotas. 170,000 from the Eastern hemisphere, and 120,000 from the Western hemisphere could immigrate. A global quota in 1978 was set, of 290,000, which is 20,000 in each country. In 1990, the global quota was raised to 700,000. I had no idea that here was an international quota. I thought each country decided that for themselves. I found this very interesting because it made me learn something new.

Immigration Laws
Today in class we finished up the podcast. I personally think that the system that Trump has put in place is great. It isn't perfect but I think it is better than letting so many immigrants into the country each day. By only letting 30 people in everyday, this narrows down who really wants to be in America and who will take the time to wait for it. I also think that it is good for immigrants to stay in Mexico while they await their trial. They shouldn't be allowed in the United States to live if they haven't gone to trial. Even if there are only 11% of immigrants who don't show up at their trial, that is still too many. This eliminates the risk of people disappearing into the United States before their trial. Overall, I think that Trump is doing a great job, and I don't think people give him enough credit.
