Today in class, we went over different types of migration., We learned about the difference between immigration and emigration. Immigration is when migrants are going into a country. Emigration is when migrants are exiting a country. These are easily remembered because of their first letter of the word. We also learned about Ravenstein’s Law. This involves the distance that migrants typically move. Most migrants relocate a short distance and remain within the same country. Long distance migrants go to other countries and go to big cities. Internal migration is staying in the same country but moving to a different region or staying in the same region. International migration is moving to a completely different country. I also learned today that about 9% of the worlds people are international migrants. Also, most people go from developing countries to developed countries.
